Here goes.....

So.  Here I am. I've been 39yrs old since May 14th.  I've also been getting heavier and heavier over the last 4+ yrs.  That unfortunately translates to self-loathing and disgust for myself too.  I could sit here and whine about all the reasons I feel like I've gained weight and use all the obstacles life has thrown my way as yet another excuse but the bottom line is I LET MYSELF GO.  But just like it took me several years to get way overweight.... it's also going to take time to get back to where I want to.  I DO HOWEVER have a lofty goal to be FIT BY 40.  And that time is coming quickly.

When I saw that my cousin (close family friend) Heidi was putting together a 60 Day weightloss challenge I knew it was just the motivator I needed to kickstart my journey to where I really want to be physically.  So.  I'm going to be letting it all hang out here.  Quite literally. Getting real with myself and hopefully inspiring a few others along the way that are struggling with the same things I am.  The offical start date was this Monday, the 20th.  I will let the following photo speak for itself.  You have NO IDEA how hard this is for me to post this.  Or maybe you do?  I'd love to have a few cheerleaders shouting out some positive feedback. THAT would be all kinds of awesome! I process enough negative thoughts about myself for 20 people so negativity is not allowed here.  And I'm speaking to myself mostly.  LOL  Anyhoo..... here goes the dreaded photo.  Will check in again soon.

  2. Way to go, Shanna. I think it's easy for us to do when we are busy doing for others and not taking the time to really take care of ourselves. I'll be cheering you on!

  4. You can do this Shanna! (As can the rest of us traveling on this same journey.). I didn't sign up for the challenge but started right along with you on Monday. Positive Polly at your service. I am just a phone call and a 3 minute drive away if you ever need some in person motivation.

  7. I am so proud of you! Making this first step is actually the hardest part of the journey because every pound lost after this is a victory. Take baby steps...you did not gain this weight in 1 month so don't expect to lose it in 1 month either! And remember every time you lose 1 lb you will be thinner and healthier than the week before. Keep that in your mind at all times. Have fun on this adventure Oh Fabulous One :)

  8. Shanna, I struggle all the time, and I never take time out for myself either as mom's that's what we do right? I started about 4 months ago and have lost 30 pounds, it isn't easy especially when no one else in the house is on the same journey. DON'T GIVE UP! You are worth it, remember that. I too am only a call away hugs.

  9. Shanna, honey... you and are are sooo much alike! Seriously! I too just started my venture to get back on the "fit" track this past Monday after several starts and stops! Our great minds were in sync! I am really pushing myself now... I believe I'm ready and in the right frame of mind to actually follow through this time. It's been several years of self destruction for me and I need to finally get happy and I'm also wanting to do it for the anticipated and "not so anticipated" 40 year mark!

Believe me... I am here for you, Shanna! If you ever need a buddy to confide in... I am your girl! I wish you all the best of luck! Here's to getting fit! ;)

  10. I am so excited for you! I don't think there are many women out there that weight loss comes easy. It is really hard to stay focused. I recently lost 15 lbs in 4 months. It took a conscious effort every single hour of every single day to watch what I put into my mouth. I couldn't have that last chicken nugget on my kids plate or one or two fries from their happy meal. For me it all came down to calorie counting and about an hour of working out everyday. That means I had to get up early (before the kids) and get my workout in before the day actually started. It is a great way to start the day. If I wait to exercise, I lose more and more motivation to do it as the day goes on. And I had to meal plan. If I didn't, it was way too easy for me to get a pizza or fast food for dinner and those had too many calories for me. I don't eat perfect, but I do calorie count and that has made all the difference for me. I can send you the link to my site/app that I use. It is like FB for weight loss and calorie counting because you have friends that encourage and see your progress. My friend that got me started lost 35 lbs. It is a slower weight loss, but it stays off because you aren't doing crazy crash dieting! I seriously love talking about this stuff (if you can't tell) and you can call or message me anytime if you need anything. I wish we lived closer so we could work out together! Good luck. We are rooting for you! :)

    1. Alicia! You're AWESOME! And so right! It is hard work. That's why I've been avoiding it like the plague! LOL I'm so proud of you for sticking to your guns and goals! I wish we were closer too! I am going to have to get more strict about my calories. I've decided to do the counting though after I've gotten into the daily routine and making better food choices. Once I get that stuff down then I will be right there counting. LOL Thanks so much for the encouragement! Love ya!

  12. Shanna you are so brave and inspiring!! I have had a variety of medical problems that have been a huge part of my weight gain over the last several years. It's so hard. When you feel sluggish because of the added weight, and it's so hard to drag the body outside to exercise which only adds on more weight due to lack of exercise... blah blah blah. I am happy for you, wish you lots of luck and maybe I'll look into this 60 day challenge too :)

  13. Yes Renee.... sluggish. That's me.... every day! Medical issues are a huge set back for weight gain! I'm here to cheer you on too! I hope you get to feeling better so you actually can focus on your weight loss goals! Thanks for the support and sweet words... I really appreciate it! Hugs!
